Two (2) years of college course work in construction inspections, pre-engineering or a related field and four (4) years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully complete the job. International Code Council Certification as a Residential and Commercial Building Inspector and related certifications. Registered with the South Carolina LLR. Valid South Carolina driver's license.
The Building Inspector is responsible for conducting comprehensive on-site inspections of building construction to ensure compliance with all codes as required by law. The Building Inspector assists in establishing practices and procedures to ensure effective and efficient inspection of buildings and construction projects within the jurisdiction. The Building Inspector reports to the Building Official.
