Director of Counseling Services
Counseling Services at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Director of Counseling Services. The director will be responsible for ensuring that Counseling Services is providing mental health services that meet the needs of a diverse student body. As an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs, this position will supervise Counseling Services staff and operations, and serve as a campus expert and consultant on student mental health.
The Director will effectively manage campus partnerships for Counseling Services, oversee departmental budget and assessment processes, serve on campus committees, and collaborate with Student Health Services to ensure students are offered appropriate psychiatry services. In addition to the above responsibilities, the Director will manage Counseling Service’s 24/7 on-call process and 20% of the Director’s time will be spent directly seeing clients.
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, counselor education, social work, or a closely related field. Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D., DSW.) preferred. Successful candidates will have extensive experience as a clinician in a college/university counseling center or a multidisciplinary outpatient mental health center, experience in program development and assessment, extensive experience meeting the mental health needs of a diverse population, and supervisory experience, preferably in a campus setting.
Candidates must be currently licensed in South Carolina in a field directly related to their education or must be able to obtain their license within a year of employment. All candidates who are not currently licensed in South Carolina are encouraged to explore licensure requirements in South Carolina prior to submitting their application to determine what will be required to become licensed.
