GSSM is a public, tuition-free, STEM high school for students across the state of South Carolina.
The school offers residential, virtual, and outreach programs to advance the state's most talented and motivated students by offering them a transforming STEM education.
Under general supervision of the Vice President of Academics, the Academic Affairs Coordinator will a) help plan, manage and coordinate for-credit and not-for-credit academic events such as convocation, graduation, and lab experiences; b) organize, edit, and maintain a repository of academic documents such as course catalogs, academic calendars, student and faculty handbooks, and academic policies; and c) provide administrative assistance to the Vice President of Academics and other academic administrators. The employee is expected to be able to make informed decisions independently, conduct basic data and situational analysis for reporting, and provide advice on relevant academic and programmatic issues. The employee will be part of the academic administrative team and will attend their meetings regularly.
Regular Duties Include:
Planning, managing and coordinating for-credit and not for-credit academic activities
Organizing, editing, and maintaining a repository of academic policies and documents
Coordinating academic affairs functions with internal and external partners and other constituents
Interacting with faculty, students, and parents on behalf of the Office of Academic Affairs
Crafting communications from the Office for Academic Affairs
Conducting data and situational analysis and reporting to inform administrative team decisions
Performing other duties assigned by the VP for Academics
Requirements Include:
A bachelor's degree and experience working in education or in a related area. A master's degree in education or other relevant area is a plus. Specific experience in curriculum design or development is a plus.
Five years of experience in relevant program support, event planning, process coordination, and executive administrative assistance. The experience must evidence strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Substantial experience using personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and virtual meeting software.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to: collaborate effectively with a wide range of diverse stakeholders including administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents; work independently and as a part of a team; handle constructive criticism; process multiple tasks; and monitor program timelines and provide attention to detail.
Some experience with data/situational analysis and reporting to various audiences.
This is a full-time 12-month position with benefits through the state of South Carolina. Salary is competitive and commiserate with experience and qualifications. The person hired for this position is expected to work from our campus in Hartsville, SC and may work outside of regular business hours.
