Job Description

Maintain a high level of cleanliness and order in the university center by performing a variety of cleaning tasks and meeting room set-ups. Strive to achieve perfection in supporting student activities and programs, meetings, and special events. Provide high-level customer service and uphold Webb Center staff's work values.

Type of Recruitment

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of institutional cleaning methods and equipment operation. Demonstrated ability to properly operate a variety of housekeeping cleaning equipment which may include, but not be limited to, floor polishers, vacuums, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, brushes, burnisher and auto scrubber. Demonstrated ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and customers. Demonstrated ability to read and write the English language and to understand and follow oral instructions. Demonstrated ability to stand for extended lengths of time (five hours or more). Demonstrated ability to learn, retain and utilize training procedures.

Education or training

Basic housekeeping training in the use of equipment and chemicals.

Level and type of experience

Some experience operating standard housekeeping equipment.Basic experience in the use and application of chemicals such as germicides, disinfectants and caustic solutions.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

Some experience as a housekeeping worker in a large office, school or institutional setting.

Conditions of Employment

This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to work during inclement conditions and holidays when the university is closed.

Employee is required to work Friday-Tuesday evenings, 1:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
