The Department of Art + Design at Southeast Missouri State University seeks a dynamic and creative Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, mentorship of students, and contributing to the curricular development of the Graphic & Interactive Design area of specialization within our BFA program. We are looking for an individual with a strong portfolio, an excellent understanding of design theory and practice, and a passion for educating the next generation of graphic designers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a range of undergraduate courses in graphic design.
- Provide guidance, academic advising, and mentorship to graphic design students to aid in retention.
- Meet the University and Department's requirements for tenure and promotion including teaching, professional/creative scholarship, and service.
- Promote the Graphic & Interactive Design area to prospective students (recruitment), alumni, and the regional community.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Fine Arts in Design, Graphic Design, Visual Design/Communication, or Visual Studies. (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university and directly related to the field).
- A strong graphic design portfolio demonstrating expertise in various design disciplines.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Products such as: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, XD, After Effects as well as a working knowledge of Figma, Wordpress, HTML and CSS, and demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh and Windows platforms.
- Knowledge of design theory, history, and contemporary design trends.
- Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within and outside the University community.
