Electrician/Mechanic/Production Operator
Carpenter Technology Corporation, a modern steel coil and bar production plant, located near Hartsville, SC, has immediate openings for the following positions:
Electrician I - PRIMARY DUTIES
Preventive Maintenance program in order to anticipate/prevent equipment failures.
Trouble-shoot and diagnose manufacturing and support systems and make effective repairs in an efficient manner to get equipment back into operation as quickly as possible.
Responsible for following established safety procedures, including wearing PPE and lock-out/tag out procedures.
Responsible to diagnose, repair, and re-program Programmable Logic Control, Human Machine Interface systems, and their companion controls.
Responsible to test modified or new equipment to ensure proper and safe operation before turning equipment over to the production operators.
Responsible to understand the plant lubrication systems, pipe, hydraulic, pumping, and pneumatic systems and to assist mechanics as needed.
Maintains, troubleshoots, and calibrates electro-mechanical systems.
Must understand the electrical power distribution system and troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair as necessary. This includes production equipment electrical system as well as for the facility.
Familiar with the operation, application, and troubleshooting of AC and DC motors and drive systems.
Read and understand systems drawings.
Maintain and troubleshoot furnace combustion systems.
Operates mobile equipment as necessary in the performance of maintenance duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
Associates Degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology, or closely related field, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds
Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment test which includes a background check, physical including drug and alcohol screening
Mechanic - PRIMARY DUTIES:
Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to housekeeping, cross training and operator level maintenance in support of equipment operation. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules.
Responsible to develop, maintain, and implement an effective and efficient Preventive Maintenance program in order to anticipate/prevent equipment failures. Trouble-shoot and diagnose manufacturing and support systems and makes effective repairs in an efficient manner to get equipment back into operation as quickly as possible.
Responsible for following established safety procedures, including wearing PPE and lock-out/tag out procedures.
Responsible to test modified or new equipment to ensure proper and safe operation before turning equipment over to the production operators.
Responsible to understand the plant lubrication system and use applicable techniques to maintain/repair the system.
Maintain and troubleshoot pipe, hydraulic, pumping, and pneumatic systems. Calibrates and aligns production equipment, including motors, gear boxes, gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Sets up and operates a variety of stationary machine tools to fabricate or repair machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
Installs, inspects, and troubleshoots bearings for production equipment, and other support equipment as is applicable.
Repairs and maintains plant infrastructure, including utilities (water, air, electrical, gas and propane).
Operates welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Operates mobile equipment as necessary in the performance of maintenance duties
Assist in the training of other production and maintenance employees.
Responsible to follow established and common sense housekeeping at all times.
Read and understand system drawings; i.e., assembly drawings, piping, P & ID, layout, etc.
Maintain and troubleshoot furnace combustion system. Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate electro/mechanical control systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Production Operator I - PRIMARY DUTIES:
Reads and implements order requirements that are described on the work ticket.
Consults with previous shift operators to assure a smooth transition from shift to shift. Examples include determining machine adjustments and material requirements for jobs that will be run.
Set rollers and guides as specified by job requirements.
Observes machine operation throughout the line or work area with particular attention being made to safety, detection of workpiece defects and machine operation.
Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and makes subsequent adjustments as required to achieve proper dimensions and surface condition.
When changes to a size occurs the operator checks and ensures that uncoilers, pre-straighteners, peelers, straighteners, grinders saws, and/or sander/polishers are set up
properly for the new job. The operator replaces parts and makes adjustments as necessary.
Ensures that chip buckets are changed-out with each new grade-type that is processed.
Changes straightener rollers as required.
