Truck Driver / Equipment Operator.
The Town of Bolton is seeking qualified applicants for the full time, benefitted position of Truck Driver / Equipment Operator.
REPORTS TO: Director, Public Works Department
SALARY GRADE: 7 (Union Scale) AFSCME Starting pay $23.38 / hour

Public Works – General:
• Operates all DPW heavy equipment, such as the backhoe, front-end loader, grader, sweeper, sander, trucks, and all plowing equipment.
• Performs routine maintenance work on vehicles and equipment, such as greasing, changing oil, tires, etc…
• Plows & sands roads and sidewalks during snow removal operations.
• Hot tops roads.
• Performs routine road and sidewalk maintenance operations such as repairing potholes, oiling roads, repairing guard rails, cutting/repairing shoulders, repairing washouts, repairing drainage structures.
• Installs and repairs street and road signs.
• Cut brush and trim trees along roadside; operates chipper.
• Other duties as required.
Cemetery/Parks/Tree/Town Buildings:
Cemetery: Rake, mow, and trim all grounds, edge around in-ground markers. Handle all burials. Cut and chip brush. Reset stones and repair stone walls. Maintain roadways.
Parks: Rake, mow, and trim all grounds. Cut and chip brush.
Trees: Assist tree warden with tree felling and removal.
Town Buildings: Rake, mow, and trim all grounds and perform landscaping duties including shrub, tree, and flower planting/removal. Repair driveways and parking lots. Plow and remove snow. Move furniture.
Transfer Station: May take over duties of Transfer Station Attendant when attendant is sick or on vacation. Maintain roadway.
Conservation: Assist with maintenance as required. Clear existing waterway paths of clogging debris. Repair/install trail signs as required.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
General:
• High School Education
• Ability to follow standardized rules, procedures or operations
• Skill in handling and in maintaining heavy automotive equipment
• Familiarity with general highway/public works operations
Licenses:
• CDL Class B Driver’s License (Required)
• Ability to acquire Class C Hydraulic license within 90 days of date of hire
Skills:
• Skill in operating backhoe, loader, grader and other Department of Public Works equipment
• Ability to perform maintenance and repair work
• Ability to follow instructions
• Mechanical aptitude
Physical Requirements:
• May be asked to pass a physical examination by a physician designated by the Town
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
PHYSICAL DEMAND / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as lifting heavy objects or working in awkward positions.
• Work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations, which require a range of safety and other precautions.
• Position requires exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions and to disagreeable odors.
• Employee must be available during off-duty hours, including nights and weekends, for snow and ice removal during winter months and for cleanup after severe storms during the remaining months.
• Ability to work as part of a crew, team player, good communication skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work alone.
STATUS: Regular full-time, non-exempt
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week – Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM
