Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Administrative Specialist for Academic Affairs Operations assumes responsibility for policy compliance, process and procedure implementation, and data collection around academic affairs operations inclusive of, and not limited to:

(1) curriculum approval

(2) academic course schedule entry

(3) online accelerated program (OAP) workflow

(4) persistence to academic degree

(5) other academic processes, procedures, and data management critical for ensuring academic program and student success

Responsibilities include an understanding and knowledge of university, college, school, and program level policies, procedures, documents, and manuals as they relate to academic affairs and student support.

This position may collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and administrators within the schools to maintain an academic affairs operations calendar; ensure timely and compliant completion of various academic affairs processes; develop and maintain an academic affairs policy and procedure manual; and generate academic affairs reports as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Preference will be given to the candidates who possess the following:
  • Experience in a college environment within a university
  • Experience executing academic affairs related policies and procedures
  • Experience navigating information system databases and utilizing database functionality to research data and perform queries
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, organize and adjust workload to handle multiple responsibilities
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion in dealing with a wide variety of administrators, faculty, staff and with student data
