Job Description:

The Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh are recruiting a plastic surgeon at the professor level in the appointment stream with clinical and research interests in facial paralysis and unique reconstruction and capabilities in the head, neck, and extremities. This position offers the opportunity to join a thriving academic, clinical, and research department in a national center of excellence.

This individual would join an established team based at an academic tertiary care facility and engage in all aspects of academic surgery, including clinical care teaching learners of all levels, clinical research, and service for the department, the institution, and regional/national societies. A professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution at the level expected of a professor at a leading academic institution. They should exhibit promise of originality and excellence in a field of scholarship and should have demonstrated ability in guiding and counseling students. The ideal candidate must hold an M.D. in plastic surgery or a related field. The individual should have a strong body of impactful scholarship, a national and developing international reputation, effectiveness in teaching, and service. Professors must demonstrate a sustained trajectory of contribution and career progression with increasing responsibilities and accomplishments over time, ranking among the foremost leaders in their field.
