Position Summary

A highly productive academic group, focusing on Hepatology (liver diseases), is in search of a motivated Biostatistician/Data Analyst to join their team. Our collaborative group has been working together since 2017 and has had numerous high impact publications in top journals including: Nature, JAMA Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, and Hepatology. This would be a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual interested in academic productivity and excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for database design, management and data analysis
  • Develop programs to extract data and to manipulate data from electronic health records utilizing SQL/SAS and advanced methods in data mining and natural language processing
  • Develop efficient programs to perform data analysis including descriptive and regression analyses of cross-sectional and longitudinal data
  • Develop macros to automate data extraction analysis and reporting of results
  • Responsible for summarizing results, and reporting findings to investigators
  • Provide statistical analysis results, tables and figures for internal meetings, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at national meetings
  • Adhere to all rules to prevent any preaches of data security and privacy laws and rules
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree-Biostatistics
  • Training in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Statistical Programming, or related field
  • Advanced skills and knowledge in biostatistics, statistical methods in medical, clinical and health services research
  • Working knowledge of health claims data and electronic health records
  • Proficiency in data management and SQL programming, data analysis and visualization using SAS or R, and familiarity with high-performance computing
  • Strong personal initiative and the ability to work independently and effectively as a part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills
  • Possesses the critical thinking skills needed to provide statistical support to clinical and health policy investigators
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Independently uses time management and organizational skills to successfully prioritize concurrent projects
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and resourcefulness
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience 2-3 years-Related work experience
  • Certification(s): SAS certified
