Job Description Summary

Wake Forest Athletics is currently seeking applicants to serve as a Sports Dietitian Fellow for Olympic sports. This position is a 1-year position that will assist the Sports Nutrition Department in program development and will serve as the assistant dietitian for Wake Forest Olympic Sports. This individual, under the supervision of the Director of Olympic Sports Nutrition, will manage our fueling station, work with multiple sports teams, complete 1:1 counseling, team education, and day to day operations of our nutrition program

Job Description
  • Assessment and counseling of student-athletes on optimal nutritional practices including but not limited to exercise training, competition, recovery from practice, recovery from injury and illness, weight management, hydration supplementation and legal use of dietary supplements, regularly banned drugs and restricted substances in compliance with sport governing bodies.
  • Independently develop and facilitate team nutrition education sessions.
  • Management of the fueling station and day to day nutrition operations. This includes product inventory, ordering, receiving, and distribution of goods.
  • Develop and design educational materials and manuals using Canva and PowerPoint.
  • Perform and interpret results of nutrition and body composition assessments via DEXA.
  • Assist in meal planning and menu plan development. This includes but is not limited to: pre- and post-practice snacks, catered snacks, grab n go snacks, pre- and post-game meals.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings discussing clinical and high-risk cases with sports medicine, sports psychology, and registered dietitians.
  • Research, evaluation, education, recommendation, and provision of permissible dietary supplements, as needed/appropriate.
  • Manage nutrition interns, work study students, dietetic interns, and volunteers on the day-to-day tasks for our Olympic Sports.
  • Other responsibilities and team assignments as assigned by the Director of Olympic Sports Nutrition.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field
  • At least 1 year of sports nutrition experience working in collegiate or professional athletics.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Master's degree in sports nutrition, exercise physiology, sports psychology or other health related field
  • Working knowledge of ACC conference, NCAA, and USADA rules and regulations
  • Desire to gain clinical and practical experience in a variety of sports
